@dansup there really should be some way forward to incorporate "the interplanetary file system" #ipfs with #activitypub for the longterm survival of the #fediverse which would also thwart attempts to censor or regulate it out of existence... Cause you know, corporate tentacles have their ways of touching everything.

We are a little more than 24 hours away from the deadline for FOSDEM 2025 proposals. If you work on Free and Open Source software for the Fediverse, especially #ActivityPub servers and #Mastodon clients, please consider proposing a talk:

"blogging plus feed readers started out a lot more decentralized than has, and having one big player enter the room and then exit effectively killed the system. And that's even without feed readers being particularly expensive or challenging to run as independent software." dustycloud.org/blog/how-decent

Developer question: If you build a minimal ActivityPub server for development purposes, do you have to run it on a registered domain with an SSL certificate for it to be able to connect to anything else (like a big Mastodon instance)?

Or is running it on some kind of dynDNS or ngrok type service (so it has a static domain name) enough just to test things out?

(Boosts for reach gratefully received 🙏)

Finally got done listening to the For A Better Web #podcast with @brucelawson and @evan - really good episode talking about the importance of #ActivityPub and the standards and practical work going into the #Fediverse right now. 👏🏻 vivaldi.com/blog/better-web/ev

Is it somewhat concerning that the current Twitter owner also owns a Rocket company and can monopolize interplanetary communications?

ActivityPub needs cross planet support long term, and satellites so we don't need to rely on adversarial competitors

#GhostBlog has added #ActivityPub support for groups, which is used by WordPress for subscribing to a whole blog instead of an individual user. They are also used by Lemmy. activitypub.ghost.org/welcomin
