Mastodon admins, do you want more posts on particular topics to be actively pushed to your server?
You can use topic-specific relays from FediBuzz to do this.
1. Go to the "follow posts by tag" section at https://relay.fedi.buzz
2. Enter the topic you want
3. Copy the relay address
4. Log into your server's website
5. Go to Preferences > Administration > Relays
6. Click "Setup A Relay Connection"
7. Paste the relay address into the box and click "Save And Enable"
There is a big fucking bug in Mastodon's moderation features.
When I as a moderator suspend a remote account...
Expected behavior: The account can no longer be found or interacted with on our server and the account can't find or interact with accounts on our server.
Actual behavior: the account can still be found but is empty. there is a notice that the account is suspended and there is even still a follow button - it just doesn't do anything.
And the account can still see everything from our instance and interact with our posts. 🤯 Our users just won't reciprocate the interaction, because the reply won't appear here.
But if someone else replies to a reply from the suspended account we'll see that reply, but won't know what original post it belongs to.
Is this a new bug with Mastodon 4.3 or has it always been like that?
I've been moderating for 5 years now and this is new to me.
I'm not going to create an account on Microsoft™️ Github to officially file this bug report, but can someone tell me if it's already reported and what's the status? Thanks.
Additional ideal expected behavior: Previous replies to any of our posts by the suspended account won't be seen by anyone anywhere on the Fediverse - or at least not as replies to our posts, because our instance notifies/federates all other instances that these replies shouldn't be there.

Dear. Fucker.
1) This specific photo you reported is literally just not porn
2) Even if it was porn, there is no rule on either of these servers banning porn
3) This user's photos do no harm nor advocate for harm, meaning they pass the basic test for “they deserve to exist and be shared with others”
4) If you don't want to see content that offends your sensibilities, fucking BLOCK HASHTAGS THAT OFFEND YOUR SENSIBILITIES INSTEAD OF WASTING MODERATOR AND ADMIN TIME
Sincerely--
Go sit on a cactus

Instance Admins -- When your users make bogus and bullshit #reports like this, against my users, this is how I end up ignoring your instance and blocking your instance from being able to make any reports in the future. I'm looking at you, mastodon.nzoss.nz
.
Stop making bullshit reports.

⚠️ Update on Patchwork for Server Admins
We want to build a tool that gives back to the Fediverse, but we have a small dev team and multiple exciting projects underway. So we need to make some hard choices.
We’re putting everything into getting https://Channel.org - our tech enabled membership organisation - live this year.
That’s why Patchwork for Server Admins will not be available until 2025.
More info below 👇

If you're a server admin, it can get a bit tedious defederating servers one at a time, and it's almost impossible to keep track of all the info out there about what to block.
To help with this, there are various ready-made blocklists you can install. @oliphant has a page full of links to different readymade lists at:
Also signposted by Oliphant is the FediCheck service which provides automatically updated blocklists:

still struggling
it’s ignoring my server block for https://files.fedi.fifo-f.eu and redirecting to my main site, https://fifo-f.eu
Question about #OpenCollective, if anyone knows:
What's the difference between an "Organization" and a "Collective"? Can people contribute financially to an Organization in the same way they can with a Collective?
I set up a Collective for the instance I run, but could only contribute to another Collective as an Organization, so I set up a separate Organization. Now I have to transfer money between them, which is a pain. Can I just ditch the Collective and have people donate to the Organization?

!!!
Femoji CLI is a command-line tool for managing custom emojis on Fediverse instances. Currently, it only supports Mastodon-compatible instances (using GoToSocial's Swagger API spec).

FediBlock: Cubsex.lol Alts, with conversation for context. Mods please read the conversation!
Putting up a #FediBlock / #InstanceBlock for some servers after a conversation with the admin of CubSex.pictures, formerly CubSex.lol, about why these pedo servers move around so much. This was in good faith: PLEASE DO NOT HARASS THE ADMIN.
If anyone wants to better understand that, I think the attached conversation we had would be very useful.
According to the admin of that server, if you don't want cub-porn (furry lolicon / shotacon) on your timeline, you should block the following servers...
CubSex.lol
map-and-yap.club
cubfucker.pro
Again, these were given to me by the Admin of the server, with the explicit statement that they are servers for people who draw porn of underaged furry characters. They are anti-contact, and gave these in good faith, so I heavily discourage anyone from harassing them: just block and move on.

#FediMod #Moderation #FediAdmin #FediStaff
#FediAdmin folks: How much disk usage does subscribing to an average relay cost on your server? I saw the Akkom lead telling an admin "if you care about just 30GB, you shouldn't use relays"
#GoToSocial 's docs say space needs are modest. But it doesn't support relays yet. It also says not to use "cloud volumes" as performance is unreliable. Well, where else am I supposed to put a bunch of data?
