signale , mask & block, et si besoin : #fediblock
Thank you
I lurk on #fediblock and got drawn into the drama
I sent a note of encouragement to the dev, Samantha, because I was so enraged at the abuse she was getting
That her project had issues is fine. That some people engaged in constructive criticism is fine
But this abuser @ginny thinks it is her right to be personally hateful?
Maddening
Utterly unacceptable
Ginny should be kicked from the Fediverse
People wonder why we don't have more devs
People like Ginny are the reason

Heads up: last night in the post https://spujb.masto.host/@spujb/113956563619977192, @spujb@spujb.masto.host told me to kill myself, then edited the post to hide it. See the screenshot below, attached in case they delete the post.
This of course is entirely unacceptable.
They self-host so I can't report their post directly, but I reported it via DM to their hosting provider, @mastohost. You may wish to do so as well. I've blocked them and I encourage you to do the same.
#FediBlock
Hello Everyone,
After having a lot messages from people yesterday about why we should not have a block system we are going to refactoring our reports system into a more positive system into the future.
Instead of reporting a negative thing someone has done we might instead add a positive someone done instead.
This will help make the Fediverse more positive instead of negative.
@Fedicate
I'm going to be honest with you.
This is an interesting concept, but I am seeing a bunch of problems with it, and not seeing a reason to use this over the existing moderator report system. In fact, I worry that people will use this instead of the report button, which is already a massive problem with #FediBlock, along with the trolling and harassment that goes on with that tag.
This seems to just be FediBlock with extra steps.
I also want to note, if this is only negative reports, you will have the drawback of some of the most popular and/or insightful people having the most reports, because that's who's getting that traffic. If you are really dead set on doing this, you really should have a system that lets people say a person is good, like that they are credible or make good content, so that those negative reports can be outweighed by people vouching for the person.
And once again, that's a problem with FediBlock too: we don't need more tools for shaming. We need more deescalation.
#fediblock @Fedicate for developing a harassment database for some reason

@tulpenkiste 4. As of the moment they aren't always private with things like #FediBlock the reason we are publishing it is to simply help people block those they feel could be a problem in the future. but we could also make it a Semi-Private system in the future with only certain instance admins getting a view of it if needed. We are open to suggestions
Reports are now added as complaints about the user and are displayed on the users profile. More reports on you, the less trust people may have.

Report and #fediblock for obvious reasons
And we will keep leaning into Fediblock until you people find functional filters that work. Or actually work to fix this constant issue.
