OK, almost over. I just realized something in the mean time: we could get an idea about how many Threads account are federated by asking for @threads.net users on an instance outside of the #FediPact.

@nimda @silverpill @icedquinn @sun @jeffcliff as stated someone would need to boost or like the child abuse for it to go into this specialized :butterfedyC: ipfs node.... let's call it a DCN's (decentralized content node) (ie. not a CDN :awesome: )

step one needs to be to fork ipfs (probably) to have an arm of development that is not on m$ (or amaz, goog, cf) servers.

step 2 is to then have a working prototype of a fediverse-friendly DCN that fedizens can EASILY adopt to optionally try,

step 3 possibly consider a #fedipact or a #newfedipact lol (@vantablack / @vantablack) to get the corporates (aka fastly) off our :butterfedyC: fediverse.... a date to say, on this date we will start sending activity pub xml with these DCN links in them(*) AND WILL BE BLOCKING FASTLY SERVERS.

(* maximum of two or three DCN's would be sent, no matter how many thousands of ipfs/DCN nodes host the media, for example.)

i think this is the best approach.

Remember when people speculated why #Meta could be interested in #Fediverse, some folks made a guess that they could start offering their "moderation expertise" to fediverse server admins as a paid subscription?

Well, this is how their "moderation expertise" looks like:

Poll: Should SWF take funding from Meta?

The previous poll in this thread asked about different ways SWF could engage with Meta, this one zeroes in on the hot-button question of funding.

Poll: How should the Social Web Foundation engage with Meta?

One of the hot-button issues about the new Social Web Foundation ( @swf ) is their relationship with Meta (Facebook and Instagram's parent company). There are a lot of different ways to engage ... which do you think is the best option?

#fediverse #meta #swf #fedipact

SWF shouldn't engage with Meta at all
SWF should work with Meta occasionally, when it's necessary
SWF should work with Meta together often, but no formal relationship
SWF should have Meta as a partner, advisor, or some other formal relatoinship, but no funding
SWF should take funding from Meta, but no formal relationship
SWF should take funding from Meta *and* a formal relatiionship

As the open social web grows, a new nonprofit looks to expand the ‘fediverse’

"The Social Web Foundation (SWF) has some backing from Meta as well, alongside other major implementors of the ActivityPub protocol, including the social magazine app Flipboard, newsletter platform Ghost, Mastodon, and others. The Ford Foundation has also offered the organization a large grant to get the project started. In total, SWF is closing in on $1 million in financial support."

Instagram and Threads moderation is out of control

"On Threads, the topic of “Threads Moderation Failures” is trending. Some users complain their accounts are being deleted or restricted for linking to articles with controversial topics. Meta is currently banning and restricting users on a hair trigger."
