I'm experimenting with #Friendica, especially the federated part and how it integrates Mastodon users and posts. So far, I'm pretty happy with it (except for the stupid name, of course, that will probably repel many potential users), though it's not totally transparent to me yet which posts will be relayed and which will not.

As someone still using Facebook and eager to maintain something like it for the future, I decided to give #Friendica a try, since it seems to be the only plausible option at the moment.
IMO a screen like this (where you end up when you try to join) is a dead end for 99% of users.
Again, IMO, the most important thing for Mastodon is having mastodon.social as the default way to join. Federation is important, but having an obvious choice of server is even more important, if the goal is growth.

Morjen, für längere texte und bis zu 10 Bilder reichen die Misskey artigen Dienste wie #IceShrimp, #Sharkey #misskey #Foundkey vollkommen aus.
Zudem haben sie den Vorteil, das sie einen internen Cloudspeicher haben, das heißt, du kanns tda über PDF, TXT, Word, Exel, Videos Bilder usw. alles reinladen und teilen.
Also, nicht wie mit Mastodon, nur Bilder. Alles lässt sich in Ordner sortiert ablegen
Zudem kannst du Lesezeichen in Ordnersturkturen ablegen und auch die Suchoptionen sind sehr umfangreich.

Einen wunderschönen Dienstagmorgen. ❄️❄️
#MeineTimeline verzeichnet weiterhin einen enormen Zuwachs an Usern, die Meta verlassen. Viele Mondbilder, Pinguine, die Maul- und Klauenseuche aber auch die Vogelgrippe ist ein Thema, genau wie der Milchpreis.
Gestern ist mir aufgefallen, dass #Friendica schon toll ist. Manche Menschen, denen man gar nicht folgt, liest man ja manchmal trotzdem zu oft in seiner Timeline. Da kann man dann ganz einfach auf den Kontakt gehen, unter "Profil -> Kanal Einstellungen -> Zeige keine Beiträge an" das Häkchen aktivieren und Ruhe ist. Herrlich sowas.
Vielleicht sollte man so manches Mal Neuankömmlingen ein wenig mehr erklären, dass die meisten Admins ihre Fediverse-Server komplett kostenfrei zur Nutzung zur Verfügung stellen. In ihrer Freizeit werden die Seiten dann gewartet und sich um alles weitere gekümmert, was als Admin und Seitenadministrator so nötig ist.
Ich kann nachvollziehen, dass nicht jeder User sich mit diesem technischen Zeugs auseinandersetzen möchte - aber vielleicht sollte man auch einfach mal ein wenig zurückstecken, wenn man dafür einen gratis Zugang auf einer gut gewarteten Instanz bekommt.
In diesem Sinne, habt einen guten Tag und fahrt vorsichtig, die Straßen können heute glatt sein!!!

So there doesn't appear to be any way to manage/delete files uploaded to #Friendica through the Compose window Browser!?
When I click the little document icon it says the path is "/Files" and I see a list at the bottom of the files I've uploaded. Each one is listed twice per line like "filename.ext filename.ext" (but the first one is actually an image of the text, implying these could be managed like photos). Clicking any of them attaches them to the post as you'd expect.
But there isn't a "Files" manager like there is for "Photos" and the "Media" tab doesn't seem to do anything useful either. I get that this is for small files, I uploaded some CSS files to share, which works, but now I can apparently never, ever delete them? Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is file management a missing feature?
