The Mastodon instance I'm on, #IndieWeb, has reacted to the #Threads moderation reduction announcement by limiting the discoverability of Threads on IndieWeb. Essentially, if you choose to follow a Threads user's federated output, cool. But nobody is going to stumble on any Threads content - they'll have to purposely bring it in on a case-by-case basis. This is level one containment - the next level is blocking Threads permanently. It's not a complex system, but it works.

Delighted that toot.wales is defederating from #Threads. I was all for federation, but if you're going to roll back protections and explicitly allow discrimination and hate, then we want no part of it. Thankyou @jaz and @teamtoot

Nein. Bitte nicht. Das Fediverse braucht definitiv keine „Influenzer“, weil das kennen wir ja schon von anderen „sozialen Netzwerken“. Die können gerne dort bleiben wo sie sind. #Bluesky und #Threads beweisen grade, dass sie es auch nicht wert sind. Wer auf keine fremden Instanzen setzen will soll sich einen eigenen Server anschaffen.
Wenn jeder Zweite #Xhitter und #Fuckbook kippen würde, wäre das eine kurze Geschichte.

It is puzzling why certain leaders at #Threads were not alerted to the changes, while #Trump was informed. My theory: Zuck realizes more than most the coming changes coming to America 🇺🇸, & capitulated in order to save his company & his life.
