There are so many people on Threads looking for new places to go and I hope there are enough people on Threads to advocate for new places to go or they will just go to the most known platforms.
Here is a thread of folks who thinks there is no social network run by "girls, the gays, and the theys" and I think those options exist but might just not be known.

I support defederating from Threads. We have rules for server mod policy, Threads is violating them. Letting them not follow rules because they are too big is a recipe for disaster.
I see what people mean about cutting off communication, but this is necessary when fighting fascism. Rules are good, actually.

With regards to Meta, Threads, and federating (or not, or some combination of limited federation), I'm in discussions now with our lead moderator, @DecaturNature, and our members, on next steps and any changes to instance policy.
As of now (fingers crossed), there aren't any immediate concerns that would require a server-side block or federation block. However, the changes in policy at Meta would lend themselves to concerns that would arise in the not-so-distant future.
Federation/defederation is one of the most intense topics for instances, and their administrators and members, and have led to the success or disbanding of instances. Accordingly, I am approaching these types of questions with both intention and an understanding that the questions are time-sensitive.

I think he made these changes to appease Trump but I don't think I have a problem with what he did. I never understood coming out with #threads to seemingly compete with #xitter and limiting political conversations on there. He says he's doing all this for free speech and I don't believe him but if they ever truly fully federate I'll have to reconsider.
Please go deeper than bad speech = block.

I went from hoping that #Threads would be a good thing overall, to suspending it, to blocking it. Oh well. If the leadership of a company is so eager to please whatever government is in charge, we can do without.
