As I go deeper into my current obsession (fan of the Edmonton Oilers), I begin to understand why Musk spent $US44B for Twitter: pro sports “happens” there. Sports folks are generally not different from other folks. Musk, w his capacity & willingness to fake the news, now has a direct & influential pipeline into so many otherwise “normal” not-fascist minds. I want to be there to engage w other hockey fans. I do not want to be part of his plot to take over the 🌎

That any government, government agency, media agency, non-fascist NGO or non-fascist think tank decides to remain in #Xitter is not a rational decision, it is mere inertia, nostalgia of what #twitter once was, and lack of attention to the contemporary movements of power driving societies and markets towards an #antidemocracy turn.

I've managed to come up with site security settings in Firefox that keep #Twitter content from loading if I click on it without thinking. I haven't yet figured out how to keep Twitter content embedded in someone else's web page from loading in my browser.

Good for the EU Federation of Journalists for leaving #Twitter / #X. No should find its home on platform that that’s owned by and promotes the messages of a political Party while suppressing unfavorable coverage. The reason for leaving though, that #Musk “proclaims the death of the media and therefore journalism” is about ego and hurt feelings. It misses the point. The problem is not that Musk doesn’t pay homage to journalists. It’s that he controls speech narratives.
